Bio-Statement

My name is Tulay Gunaydin. I am from Istanbul, Turkey and have had an interest in drawing and painting since childhood. I usually drew on the covers and tiny spaces of the pages of my schoolbooks, but life's certain conditions kept me apart from continuing to do my passion.

After a time, I realized that my wish to paint never vanished from my heart. Later on I started working with famous painters from Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan. I can spend the whole day painting, seven days a week. To me, contrasting and mixing bright colors carry a great importance.

My colors speak to me as they capture a glimpse of how I see the world. They way the oceans' depth would pull down, painting magnetizes me to the depths of colors and expressions.

In my opinion, a painting is never completely finished. It remains in my thoughts. Every step I take on the streets, I witness different compositions with diverse themes and scenes. I describe and express my feelings through paintings. In Turkey, a country of cultural beauty and remarkable history, it is not necessary to search for subjects to paint about. I am surrounded by them at all times. There is more I wish to achieve in painting...
